Accra, December 12, 2023 – In a momentous ceremony, First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo was bestowed with an honorary doctorate degree of Humane Letters from the prestigious University of Professional Studies (UPSA) in Accra.

Sharing the spotlight were esteemed figures, Justice Adeline Bamford-Addo (Rtd), the first female Speaker of Parliament, and Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, the former first female Chief Justice, who served with distinction for a decade.

Expressing profound gratitude, Mrs. Akufo-Addo acknowledged the support of Almighty God and President Akufo-Addo, stating, “I am thankful to God who gives me the strength to keep going, my husband, the President of our dear nation, who has been my greatest cheerleader, my children, family, friends, partners, and staff.”

In a humble gesture, she dedicated the honorary doctorate to the women and children of Ghana, emphasizing their resilience and drive as a continual inspiration. “It is an honor to receive it on their behalf,” she added.

The remarkable event unfolded at the 15th Congregation (5th Session) & Special Congregation Ceremony, where President Akufo-Addo and his daughters joined the First Lady in receiving this prestigious accolade, marking a moment of pride and celebration.
