The Country Director for International Labour Organization (ILO), Mr Kwame Mensah, has stated that Child Labor is causing intergenerational poverty therefore it must be fought against.
According to him, there is a need to stand and fight against Child Labour as he says, the generations of those children involved in the child labor will all become poor.

Ghana since the launch of the World Day against Child Labour joins the world every year to commemorate the day on the 12th of June to accelerate movement against child labour and create awareness for greater momentum on the elimination of child labour towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal, Target 8.7.

The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR) has developed the Ghana Accelerated Action Plan Against Child Labor (GAAPCL), for which the Social Mobilization Partners Against Child Labour (SOMOPAC) has a major role to play in achieving the vision of Child Labour elimination in Ghana.

Speaking to the media during one day training on child labour and forced labour for members of social mobilization partners against child labour (somopac), Mr Kwame Mensah stressed that, it’s important that parents are advised on the disadvantages of child labor and how they need to stand against the challenge.

Mr Kizito Ballans, the Chief Director at the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relation also admits there is child labor in the system, but sometimes it’s being over exaggerated and the country needs help to educate people more on child labor so the country can fight against it.
