Former Ghanaian Black Giant Assistant Captain and comic actor, Daniel Amartey widely known as Short Prophet, has shared a heartbreaking account of how he spent five years in prison over a crime he says he knew nothing about.

Speaking on the Conto Face podcast monitored by Agyenim_the_Blogger, the diminutive content creator narrated how his apprenticeship turned into a nightmare after the death of his boss in 2015.

According to Short Prophet, he was learning a trade under his boss when the man passed away. About a month after his burial, the late boss’s family invited him to take over and manage the shop to help support the children left behind.

He said he was alone in the shop one day when operatives of EOCO stormed the premises. To his shock, they came with one of his late boss’s friends in handcuffs.

“They came and asked of my boss. I told them my boss is dead and I showed them the obituary. They said they were not looking for obituary, they are looking for something,” he said.

Short Prophet said the officers searched and scattered the entire shop. They then demanded the key to a locked drawer belonging to his late boss. When he told them he didn’t have the key, they broke the drawer open.

Inside, they found several forging stamps, forged certificates and other forged documents.

He was immediately arrested together with the exhibits and arraigned before court.

At the court, he was accused of being responsible for the forgery and for continuing the illegal business after his boss’s death.

“In Ghana here, once they bring evidence, it’s final. They don’t investigate to check whether it’s you or not,” he lamented.

The court subsequently sentenced him to 5 years imprisonment.

Short Prophet said the experience was the most painful period of his life, as he had to serve time for an act he had no knowledge of.
