Ghanaians urged to engage services of professional surveyors

The President of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors, Surveyor Dr. Anthony Arko-Adjei has admonished Ghanaians, that employing the services of professional surveyors will help the country eradicate quark Surveyors.

According to him, engaging in these professional Surveyors will help Ghanaians get rid of the unqualified ones which he says they have been supervising most of the illegality some building owners do.

The President of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors was speaking to the media after the closing ceremony of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Working Week 2024 which was held in Accra.

The theme for this Working Week was “Your World Our World: Resilient Environment and Sustainable Resource Management for All”.

Dr. Anthony Arko-Adjei revealed that Ghanaians have a huge responsibility to play when it comes to the works of Surveyors as he says they should try and engage qualified surveyors to do professional work for them.

He also has revealed that not only Surveyors are responsible for illegal buildings in waterways, but other building professionals are also to be blamed as well.

According to him, there are lots of building professionals who are to be blamed for poor planning and building in waterways but says it is high time Ghanaians rise against fake surveyors.

The President added that, this conference has allowed them to interact and learn from international partners on ways of solving challenges with flooding and building especially that of Europe.

Also, Surveyor Ing. Samuel Larbi Darko who is the President of the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana on his part added that the duties of Surveyors are very instrumental in the day-to-day activities of land administration so Ghanaians must not forget to engage them.

He said the conference allowed them to learn new equipment and tools they used in their daily work as he says, it will make their work easy adding, with the application of technology, things will be smooth.

Touching on issues of galamsey, he says, it is high time we engage in the right processes and engage services of qualified Surveyors to help stop the destruction of Lands in Ghana.
