A devastating fire swept through a three-bedroom house in Gyinyase, Asokwa Municipality, Ashanti Region, in the early hours of Saturday, February 8, 2025. The blaze claimed the lives of Linda Agyemang, a nurse at Kumasi South Hospital, and her three children.

Despite desperate rescue efforts by neighbors and passersby, the family of four was trapped inside the burning building. The intense flames made it impossible for rescuers to access the house.

Firefighters from the Ghana Fire Service responded promptly to a distress call at 4:36 AM and extinguished the blaze. However, the victims were found burnt beyond recognition in the bathroom.

Three other occupants of the house were rescued and are currently receiving treatment at Kumasi South Hospital. The bodies of the deceased were transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for preservation.

The Ghana Fire Service has launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.

“We received a distress call reporting a fire at Gyinyase near Tubi hotel,” said DO II Peter Addai, Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer. “We quickly dispatched our fire tenders to attend to the fire… Unfortunately, we lost four people in that fire, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.”
