A devastating fire swept through a settlement behind Ferro Fabrik Ltd in the Tema Heavy Industrial Area on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, destroying multiple wooden structures used for both domestic and commercial purposes.

The blaze left many residents without homes or belongings, and the community’s leader, Charles Dukum, also known as Soldier, appealed for further assistance.

Due to the destruction, many children in the community are unable to attend school because their families lack essential educational items.

However, the Salvation Army Ghana has stepped in to provide support, donating over 100 bags of cement, iron sheets, boxes of nails, plywood, clothes, and educational materials, including children’s books, pens, and pencils, to aid in the reconstruction of homes.

The community’s leader expressed gratitude for the generous gesture but emphasized that the community remains open to financial support from benevolent organizations and philanthropists.

The community’s leader and residents hope that this generous donation will be a stepping stone towards rebuilding their lives and homes.

Territorial Commander of The Salvation Army, Ghana, Togo, and Ivory Coast, Colonel Seth Agyei Appeateng, advised residents to implement safety measures to prevent similar incidents and urged Ghanaians to contribute to the relief efforts.

He urged the community leaders to distribute the items fairly and equally to ensure peace and avoid conflicts among themselves.

Paul Bamfo, Development Secretary of the Ghana Territory, Salvation Army, also shared his thoughts on the matter, highlighting the organization’s commitment to supporting the affected community.
