In a bid to enhance the quality and impact of environmental reporting in Ghana, World Vision Ghana has organized a two-day training workshop for Ghanaian media practitioners.
The workshop, titled “Stewarding Our World through Media Engagement to Deepen National Conversation for Behavior Change and Advocacy,” aims to equip participants with the expertise needed to effectively communicate environmental issues and promote sustainable practices.
According to George Matey Okorley, Faith and Development Coordinator at World Vision Ghana, the media plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion and influencing behavior.
“The media has a special power and responsibility to inform and educate the people,” he emphasized.
By providing media practitioners with the necessary skills and knowledge, World Vision Ghana seeks to harness the media’s potential to drive positive change and promote environmental sustainability.
The training workshop is designed to build the capacity of media practitioners to report on environmental issues effectively.
By enhancing their expertise, World Vision Ghana aims to contribute to a more informed and engaged public, ultimately leading to behavior change and advocacy for environmental conservation.
World Vision Ghana’s initiative is part of a broader effort to promote sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
By engaging media practitioners and empowering them to drive national conversations, the organization seeks to foster a culture of responsibility and care for the environment.
As George Matey Okorley noted, “When media practitioners get these capability-building programs, it will help not only individuals but the entire society.”
By investing in the capacity of media practitioners, World Vision Ghana is contributing to a more sustainable future for Ghana and its people.
