The Nungua Stool, Silver City Limited, and Madam Prempeh, a widow, have applauded the combined efforts of President John Dramani Mahama, the Judicial Service, the Ghana Police Service, the media, and the public in addressing the menace of land guards led by Theophilus Teiko Tagoe.

A recent statement from the group emphasized the significant progress made in restoring peace to the community. This improvement follows a decisive legal intervention, which they credit for curbing ongoing land guard activities and bringing relief to affected residents.

The turning point came when Silver City Limited filed an Interpleader in court to challenge the unlawful demolition of residential properties and other disruptive activities. The court ruled in their favor, issuing a restraining order against Tagoe. This ruling not only halted further destruction but also marked the beginning of renewed stability in the area.

Despite these gains, concerns remain about attempts to undermine the court’s decision. According to the statement, Tagoe, allegedly backed by some police officers, including Mr. Ahim and Mr. Danso, is working to bypass the ruling. He is reportedly seeking police protection under false claims, alleging harassment of his workers and unrest in the community.

The group has dismissed these claims as baseless, maintaining that the neighborhood remains peaceful and that no workers are involved.

The parties have called on President Mahama, the Ghana Police Service, the Judicial Service, the media, and the public to uphold the court’s ruling and ensure accountability for any officials aiding Tagoe’s actions.

The statement also clarified the legal significance of the Interpleader, a provision under the High Court’s Civil Procedure Rules (C.I. 47), which allows individuals or entities to contest property claims while halting any execution until the court delivers its judgment. This legal move by Silver City Limited was instrumental in suspending demolition activities and restoring order.

The Nungua Stool, Silver City Limited, and Madam Prempeh remain hopeful that sustained institutional and public vigilance will lead to a lasting resolution of the land guard crisis. Their commitment to protecting the rights and properties of residents, as well as preserving peace and stability in the area, remains unwavering.

As the situation develops, the group has urged all stakeholders to remain alert and ensure that the rule of law prevails, safeguarding the progress made so far and preventing any future disturbances caused by land guard activities.
