The parliamentary candidate for Asawase Constituency, Alhaji Mubarak, is feeling relieved and liberated after being removed as chief whip.

He expressed that this change has lifted a huge burden off his shoulders, and he’s now at peace.

“I am at peace, complete peace with myself. Sometimes you don’t know the kind of burden you are carrying until you put it off.”

He acknowledged that politicians know their time in office is limited, saying, “The very day we entered those offices, we knew that there would be a day that we would be walking out of them”.

Mubarak’s focus has shifted to ensuring his constituency’s success and assisting fellow MPs who may be struggling.

“Everybody is working in his constituency to make sure that he or she is not only retaining his or her seat but also helping other MPs who may be vulnerable and may need your help,” he explained.

True to his word, Mubarak has been traveling to various places like Wenchi and Salaga to offer support. When asked how he could be helping others if he was bitter, he simply stated,

“No, I mean, I’m completely at peace with myself” ¹. This newfound sense of freedom has Mubarak planning to help other MPs in their constituencies, spreading his expertise and support.

As a seasoned politician, Mubarak has held various positions, including Minister for Youth and Sports, and has been a member of parliamvent for the Asawase constituency since 2005. His experience has likely prepared him for the challenges of supporting fellow MPs.
